Welcome to my JMT 2011 Trip Report!
Although I hiked all 220 miles of the JMT last summer I did it in three sections. I hiked the first section from Happy Isles to Tuolumne Meadows in July as part of a solo loop trip through the Yosemite high country. I hiked the second section from Tuolumne Meadows to Reds Meadow in August with my wife Candy, long time buddy Brad and new friend Jerry from Backpackinglight. I thru hiked the final 160 mile section from Mammoth to Whitney solo in September.
Part of getting ready for the trail was reading the many online JMT trip reports. I learned valuable information about gear, weather, trail conditions, training, bears, food and much more from trip reports and the online community at Backpackinglight.com. I hope that my trip report will provide some information and inspiration to anybody considering hiking it this season.
